We have a vision to become a remarkable church that serves as a hub of irresistible influence in the Arrowhead area – transforming families and planting churches through the power of the gospel so that all people might know, love and worship Jesus Christ.
Just as our bodies have cells and in each cell there is DNA, so within our ministry there are various “cells” – each with a kind of spiritual DNA. The presence of DNA indicates life.
We believe Jesus revealed this DNA in three universal imperatives that he gives to his disciples, and to anyone who would follow Him. These three imperatives from Jesus form the “DNA” that marks authentic Christian discipleship.
To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. (John 8:31)
Jesus wants his disciples to hold on to in his teachings. (other translations use words like “abide” or “remain”). The follower of Jesus is not just learning his teachings but saturating their lives with his teachings in the context of a vital personal relationship with Him. (John 8:31-32)
By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:35
Love is the great marker of the Christian life. The radical self-sacrificing love of Jesus Christ is the model and mandate for all true followers of Christ.
“By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.” John 15:8
The definition of a Christ follower is not found in our modern notions of success but in the ancient idea of fruitfulness – an expression of the patient process of creating a legacy of faith in the lives of others that grows out of dependence on the Holy Spirit.
